Thank you for making this video, I have had this show on my list for a long time but never got around to watching it and now I'm honestly glad. I am firmly in group one as you put it and would have completely dismissed this show as pedo bait of I saw it and never thought of it again. Now I know it has great stuff and will probably look for a summary or lore analysis because the story sounds so neat but I still don't think I would ever watch it. I'm usually fairly thick skinned but this kind of stuff just makes me too angry and uncomfortable. Thanks again for the heads up and great job talking about it, I would love to learn everything about this once it's all said and done without the pedo shit, maybe even in a video from my favorite Brit. (you)

Tbh, I don’t think dude’s exactly a predator: *Hear me out.* Also spoilers ahead Dude has been making this type of shit for years, and when I look back on his other works (which is really one, and it’s a one shot.) it’s a similar genre of manga: Young kids dealing with tough shit. His first and really only manga has a young girl protagonist dealing with the idea of leaving and departing from her planet, because she wants to see the stars, but when she tries to leave, she gets hurt. (One shot has her getting impaled by a giant rock spike.) In the end, she comes to the conclusion that leaving is hard, and that to try to travel, and explore the stars, your going to have to experience great loss, or great pain along the way. Also in interviews, he seems like a chill guy, which would be weird if that was the case. I think he’s baiting us with this shit personally, one because it’s freaky, and 2. It adds weight and almost disgust; We see it as something really nasty, I will admit it’s kinda fucking weird, but it’s more blissful obliviousness from the kids, and they don’t really understand the implications. (He shows it more for what it is, while the kids see it more in their own perspective.) Also, the art style is there to deceive: It adds weight and depth when stuff happens, like when reg almost gets split in two by Bondrewd, that shit was horrifying AF. Really, it’s a kids adventure, that is dealing with Adult content, like torture, human experimentation, getting eaten alive, and having your kids being canabalized by your own friends and crew mates. That shit is tough, and expecting Riko and reg to stay sane, along with Nanachi throughout this whole journey, and the fact Riko might be a abyss child should take a heavy toll on her, but it doesn’t? Why? Because they’ve already started going a bit insane, as well as not being normal. Sure, I don’t think knowing the twins produce milk and have 6 nips was in my want of knowing about the world, but it does add more, especially since twins are an omen and current arc is addressing the topic. Personally, I’m kinda grasping at straws, but I do get partially why the author would do that. (Besides being a predator…) I’m just hoping that it’s him being a little shit and trying to get rid of snowflakes who read his manga, since this series is really good, and besides the weird parts, I would 100% rec it to someone who want a mature manga content (kinda like berserk.) Good story, good world building, and believeable convictions and reason to delve deeper, mystery and unknown story point, and holes that arn’t holes (there just holes because they haven’t been explained.) From a story standpoint, I would 100% rec it to someone, from what ppl know, imma probably reccomend them to be ready for some serious shit. (The weird shit makes it less pg, and more believeable, since it’s not filtered, and because of that, the plotarmor kinda falls off more and more, And the weight get increased by a significant degree.) I personally like the manga because of the story, but if people get disturbed because of the other shit, they’re inclined to leave. (Personally, I didn’t even see most of the shit people were saying till ppl kept complaining.) U just kinda have to get used to it :/

my english lit a level proves useful here!! the dry, unappealing and "getting the job done" sex reminds me so much of the wasteland by ts eliot. i forgot what section its in, but tiresias (who is both man and woman and doomed to walk the earth) watched a young woman (a typist, a typical independent woman of the time) have sex with a 40s version of a finance bro for money. the bizarre omnipresence of tiresias reminds me of the monster, and especially with the mother sex scene as tiresias' body is described as having breasts in a really unsexy manner. i really wish i could do a full analysis but im going off memory rn, great video!! i love your horror analysis so much!

This show is tone deaf about the issue of suicide. Suicide is much more complex and has something to do with brain chemical imbalancement as well. It glamorized it as if it’s a new flavour of ice cream. I watched season one and two and I could not sympathize with Hannah one bit. They filmed it in a very Hollywood glossed way. I was able to sympathize with other characters such as Jessica and Justin though.

This game took the story of some girl getting groomed and murdered and said "Look at how these star crossed lovers were denied by destiny 😢, and how evil and stupid the mother is for leaving a cool husband". The only word to describe my feelings with this game is HATE, despite having never played it and only having this video as a point of reference. Oh, and the view of "killing yourself is the right way to end the story because, uh, reincarnation or heaven or whatever" is actually 100% disrespectful and distasteful. I hate every character in this story (save Rachel, who didnt really have any say in her situation), and this entire thing just sounds like some twisted self gratification in the same way that the original creator of Dormidibus (the FNaF game where Purple Guy was a pedo, necrophiliac and a murderer) was (Thank God they fixed it, changed it, and broke off from that guy). Where are all of the games about beating pedos into paste with rocks? Gimme a clicker game about that instead of "Justifying Pedophilia Simulator". I've always hated junk like that, so I suppose a rant about that was inevitable. But about the video itself, you did a great job of conveying your points throughout the entire vid. Good job on that, it's pretty hard to do consistently.

The ratio speaks for itself. The ones who like it are people who are capable of understanding deeper themes and connections, and of course those who got invested due to that and played it fully, absorbing every little bit of info they can to see the bigger picture. This includes playing and understanding fully the other games connected to it. Playing NieR: Automata on its own is like starting to watch a tv series in season 3. Those who don't like it, sadly, are shallow and or never got interested enough to dig deeper. The last section talking about 2B is the dead giveaway that you are simply too shallow to comprehend the immense amount of topics in Yoko Taro's games and understand his genius. Basically missed the whole point of the game. If anything this video is a sad reminder that some humans are bound to never being able to enjoy the deeper meaning of things and they miss out on so much.

I adore discovering things so late, lol I did start with Nioh 1, and in fact it was in preparation to playing Nioh 2 within a few months after. I can definitely see why Nioh 2 is basically just Nioh 1 on Easy Mode, but at the same time, many a newcomer is going to look (and has looked) at Gozuki (a boss I initially skipped, as expected of me) and Mezuki (possibly the only boss I killed first try) and say "Nioh 2 expects me to have mastered Nioh 1!" and stop there, worse yet if they're going into this after having immersed themselves in FromSoft's sticky white stuff so thoroughly as they have. Nioh 1's beginning at least had.. well, Derrick. That all said, I played Nioh 1 & 2 after having tried out games like Dark Souls 1 and Bloodborne, and this was just straight up the "Soulsborne" series that clicked with me. I didn't care about the story quality: it was campy cheese, and that was fine for me. I didn't care about the level quality: I could memorize every stop and replay them many times over. I didn't even care about the visual level: they made Scampuss, which puts every FromSoft design to shame. All that mattered was that I had a series with combat I could thoroughly enjoy. I'll eventually return to the likes of Bloodborne under the same circumstance of a PS5 or PC release, but I do have the same concern as when I tried returning to Dark Souls or played Elden Ring and Sekiro for the first time: neither are frankly as enjoyable as the Niohs. Especially Nioh 2, currently my favorite ARPG of all time.

One thing i noticed in this name is how despite the other characters going on about how "pure" Nicole's father and Rachel love is, the only times we learn any details about their "relationship" and how Nicole's dad viewed her is through a very s*xual lens. Nicole mentions how her father and Rachel left Christmas morning to be "alone together" the implications obvious. You would think Nicole's father would want to spend Christmas with his daughter like the good father he is proclaimed to be instead off getting his rocks off. Then we see his book about Rachel with n*de drawings of her in them. And the most obvious example of them all is he got Rachel pregnant which definitely did not happened on the first time. Overall, Nicole's father seemed to placed alot value on the physical side of his "relationship" with Rachel despite the game proclaiming his "pure" love for her.

Soldier Boy goes to show that, even in a black comedy satire show, American productions just cannot bring themselves to be even mildly critical of the US military and the people who serve in it. It's a sacrosanct institution that no American would ever dare to besmirch, no matter how much token effort they spend on pretending to be critical of US militarism.

BioShock came out in 2007. It's 17 years old. Spoilers and warnings are considered when a product is newer, especially when it just came out, not when it's literally a part of gaming history. And sure if it was like a person to person discussion, there'd be more incentive to hold back information if you asked, but this is a video essay. As is.. It's like being upset about being spoiled by The Original Incredibles movie... At a certain point it does become more of a "why were you living under a rock?" Situation. You have to consider the other side. The world moves on with or without us. either we get with the program or we miss out, you know?

It always bugged me how much it seems like the writers of the show didn’t read the book or understood the characters. One of the biggest (for me) is how Hannah does the unaliving. In the books she originally planned on the rope but couldn’t stand the idea od her parents finding her like that so takes the pills instead. And in the show they do it in such a gruesome way for what? Shock value?

  • @slavestudios47
    @slavestudios47 4 дня назад

it's very hard to be crass/gross & clever, and they seem to have lost that. it's jus shock gore now. it's become predictable & lazy. and the 'left/right' thing is VERY clonky now. it was pretty sharp when it was lampooning both sides in earlier seasons, but it's kinda overdoing the 'orange man bad' thing now. the Q-Anon thing was so on the nose all i could was roll my eyes & go make a cuppa. i dunno if the writing staff have changed or if the source material goes down in quality, but it's DEF not the show it was. still better than Marvel/Star Wars tho, so there's that lol

I do recommend checking out the Masked mans new video on Bondrewd and a few other videos other have done on him as I do think you did miss a bit of the point in his character. He 100% loves his children and in fact the only reason they can give him power is because they love him and he loves them. The abyss functions with love as a key conspect to break the curse. Bondrewd is doing all the stuff he does for the greater good, to save many lives, to find the cure for the abyss. At least its the greatter good in his mind. Just like how the abyss twist desire and all that Bondrewd moral compass has been corrupted. We also see this effect of Riko she has not chanced she is still the happy go luckily girl from the start even after all the shit she been threw. She laughed when a guy was dying. She is a child though she is not mature or at least at the start she is not. You think she change more and that her goals would change but no they don't. Bondrewd is one of the best villains ever since he is so scary yet he not actually evil. Like his actions are all out of love and well we see them as evil, and they are in are world, in the abyss those actions to him and in general have the love behind them. He believes in the great good and always will. If he could sacrifice him self to do all this he would and you know he has as he can just swap body after he dies. The more you dive into his character you realize that the author is a genuine and did all of this in 10 chapters.

Like I think made in abyss has the best world design and world building in anime period. I also love how its semi static character. I think the anime can be watched by anyone, its a hard watch but i don't think it pass over the line to to to much in the anime. Plus I think anime understands what necessary or at least mostly and i think also is able to really sell its vibe well. The music really help this and brings everything to a new level. Like i have never been scares or like emotional messed up in really anything until episodes 7-8 of season 2. Those are the anime moments i think back to the most and some of my favorites episodes ever. Did I like watching them, yes, was it suffering and super hard to experience especially late at night yes. Though no other show will give you the feeling it does. Also i did a whole essay on the monkeys paw in grade 9 so to see that idea be added in and see it taken to the extreme fucked with me. Also the idea of the monkeys paw is also like the whole gimmick of the abyss, the eye for an eye logic. Like all the principles of the abyss even the equivalent exchange are at all the layers and points in the story just in different ways. I think the only reason made in abyss is not a 10 for me is because of the stuff but its depending on the day is close to a top 5 spot for me. I even rank it sometimes of season i give 10 as I just think about it more and love the world so much.

I'm SO glad my mom didn't let me watch this when it came out. It would've destroyed my already messed up perspective as a mentally ill tween

You know a daughter coming to terms that the Dad she looked up to is actually a horrible monster is actually an interesting story.... These guys kinda fumbled it.

You know what's odd tho? That all the instances of violence and straight up hate and racism that occurs in the "parody" of the American right, ACTUALLY occurs in REALITY (that scary place they don't like) from (wait for it) the American LEFT! Can you believe it? Almost like they're in denial or projecting themselves or something! Weird right?!

Both sides do their fair share of hate and racism. To believe otherwise is delusional.

@@weirdo3116Yeah guy, they’re human, that goes without saying. But the current left CONSISTENTLY promotes violence, racism and hatred while claiming the complete opposite. The right just wants to be left alone and promotes not treating people differently because of their ethnicity (blacks are WORSHIPPED by lefties in this country out of white guilt).

@@MattPerrette87again both sides do that. The right worships trump and will run off a cliff defending him. And the left is going to run off a cliff defending Hamas acting like it's impossible for any non-white person to be evil or held accountable.
